The Devil Loves to Lie To You – 1 Peter 5:8

Sunday thoughts: If you believe in Jesus and in heaven you also have to believe in the devil and in hell.
A few weeks ago our pastor spoke to us about how one of the Devils biggest weapons is deception.
He and his demons love to lie to us about ourselves, God, and reality.
Through distortion, they distract us from our relationship with God, the grace of God, and our purpose.

Since that sermon, my husband and I have been more aware of the deceptions thrown at us.
Each time we feel fearful for the future or are quick to dismiss sin,
we’ve questioned: “Am I believing truth or a lie?”.
Man, it is unreal how often I entertain lies!
They’re repetitive & unpleasant like a broken record’s skipping.

One of the verses in the sermon that shook me to my core was:
”Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion,
seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8.
How sobering is it, that the evil one is actively seeking his next victim?
But what it also says is that he “roars” before he devours.
This week, I challenge you to look out for the roar,
the lies you let yourself entertain, and run.
Ask God to reveal them to you, and call them out.
And believe in the truth God gives us—
we are forgiven, we are perfectly made, and we are here for a purpose.

Cheers,
