Pix Tapas in London, England

Recently for date night, we went to this tapas place hubby found in Notting Hill. I’ve had tapas before and he has too, in Spain at that, so our expectations were high. We walked in to this small crowded space, maybe small enough to be just a bar for a few people, and were immediately seated (thank you, reservation). This restaurant is located on Portabello Road, and if you’re not familiar with that, it is a street filled with life! I would definitely recommend spending some time on this road after dinner to walk off a few calories. Anyways, back to Pix.

The host came over to our table and explained the way things worked. First of all, there was zero menu. Second, there were thirty rotating fresh tapas placed at the bar, and guests took their plates and filled them up with whatever they wanted to try. They priced the long skewers at 3.25 and the medium skewers at 2.25. After you took your plate to your table, you placed the skewers in the glass vase in front; at the end of dinner, they counted up the skewers, multiplied by the appropriate price, and presented you with the bill. It was like nothing we’ve ever experienced before! Super efficient and very unique!

We walked through the bar and I noticed there were plenty of vegetarian options (WOOO). We filled up our plates and sat down to eat. You guys. These won the spot for hands down the BEST TAPAS we’ve had. Seriously, so delicious. The eclectic wine menu didn’t hurt either. I felt encouraged by all the Spanish I heard around me as well, because you know what that means—if there are Spanish people at a Spanish restaurant, it has to be dang good. The ambiance relaxed my eyes with a dim candle-lit room. The end of the restaurant really had the star space, with an all-glass see-through roof, aka tons of natural light.

Something I found very quirky—in a good way—was a small closet-type space that held a candelabra with long red candles, all sitting on the floor. Above the closet was the sign “Confession,” so I guess you can eat so much food that you then go to confession haha! My favorite dishes were the potato with salsa, four cheese fritter, churro in chocolate mousse, vegetable tortilla, and ricotta-stuffed olives in a yogurt sauce. Seriously as amazing as it sounds. Hubby grabbed all the meat options, like the seared tuna, roasted chicken, and a few others, and likewise he said, “These are the best tapas I’ve ever had. And I had tapas often in Spain!”

So. Don’t just take our word for it; definitely go try this place out for a cute dinner with friends, a date night, or a night solo! They have multiple locations, so you don’t have to make it to the one in Notting Hill. You can make a reservation here. La comida fue muy deliciosa!!
