What is love? Love is there when you least expect it.
Five years ago this guy asked me on our first date.
I remember thinking we would be “too different” to work out.
But really I realized we were just unfamiliar with each other,
not “too different.”
I also learned we were alike in the things that mattered most
– faith, love for family, and absurd humor.
I’m so glad we didn’t discount dating the other because of our differences…
if anything, they make us stronger.
It’s not just for romantic relationships.
Embrace differences in people, friends.
Together you’ll have an arsenal of skills, culture, and wisdom that you wouldn’t have alone.
Cheers,

Hey — I wrote a book about all of this.
Living Open-Handed is the devotional I wrote during a season when I really needed to hear these words myself. If you're in a place where you need to be encouraged by scripture and softened by grace, it might be for you too.

[No. 74] Stop Saying That You Are Colorblind Or That You Don't See Color
I’ve heard two phrases a lot lately. The first one is, “I don’t see color” and the second one is, “I am colorblind.” I want, in love, to make sure people know neither is appropriate. I get the heart behind it. Believe me, I do. You’re trying to say that color doesn’t define a person […]

[No. 73] Love Is Translating Empathy Into Action
What is love? Love is GIRL DAY. Lol. Let me explain. Most of my BFFs don’t live in the same city as me, let alone the same state. Usually, that doesn’t bother an introvert like me. Scheduled facetime calls throughout a week usually are perfect for me. But sometimes, the lack of my deeply trusted […]
