Small Business Saturday Featuring Pamela Metamorphosis Products

For January’s Small Business Saturday, I want to introduce you guys to Pamela Metamorphosis, a Denver based, cruelty-free, skincare brand that genuinely helps your skin be the best it can be. Before I dive into Pamela Metamorphosis products, I’ll give you a little background on my own skincare woes first.

When it comes to my skin, I have tried everything short of Accutane. I have combination skin that has no real formula for what works. If you’ve been following my blog, then you know that from fall 2016 to fall 2017 I was traveling internationally, constantly. After we moved back from London, my skin was a royal disaster. I ended up throwing away anything with synthetic colors at the recommendation of my esthetician and decided to stick to simple face washes and lotions you can buy from the drugstore. I didn’t buy anything that contained synthetic colors or parabens or that was tested on animals. But with every combo I tried, I just couldn’t find the right balance. The face washes either didn’t take my makeup off or they dried out my skin. The lotions hydrated my face for maybe an hour, or they felt too thick.

A few weeks later, an employee from Pamela Metamorphosis reached out to me to ask if I wanted to try out products. I’d already said no to a couple of other skincare companies because I didn’t like the ingredients that were going into those products, so imagine my surprise when one of the first things I read on Pamela Metamorphosis’ website was: “We don’t do toxins, parabens, synthetic colors, phthalates, triclosan, formaldehyde, toluene, propylene glycol.” That’s what first drew me in. Then I read about the founder, Pamela. Talk about an accomplished woman!

She knows exactly what’s in her products because she designed them with natural ingredients. As an RN, she knows health in a way most of us do not. As a huge animal lover, she made sure her products were cruelty free. She also knows that people want something that’s simple enough for everyday use but powerful enough to make a difference. There is a Meet Pamela page on their website, if you want to learn more about her! I like knowing who is behind the product, and her vision appealed to me. So, I tried out a few of their products for two months. Below are my honest results with Pamela Metamorphosis products:

Website Description: “Packed with the antioxidants found in green tea, vitamin E and plankton extract, it protects your skin from free radicals and helps prevent aging. The Green Tea Moisturizer is creamy and silky, never sticky, always refreshing, and has become a cult-favorite over the years. It’s suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone skin.”

My Experience: Talk about a creamy moisturizer! At first glance, I thought this moisturizer would be too thick on my skin like a lot of other creamy moisturizers I have tried. But nope! This moisturizer glided over my face without clogging it up or leaving an unwanted shine. I loved the green tea within it because it left my face feeling fresh and ready for makeup/sleep. I’m glad it’s just one moisturizer you can use for both morning and night! The fewer bottles and tubes, the better! My skin certainly feels softer and looks less dry. This moisturizer is the right balance of moisturizing without making your face drip with oil.

Scent: Very, very minimal and light. Nothing distracting at all.

Website Description: “As a melanoma survivor, our founder, Pamela Hill, developed a moisturizing sunscreen to ensure everyone can be properly protected from the harmful effects of the sun. This sunscreen provides broad-spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB rays and is a lightweight, fragrance-free formulation with an SPF of 30.

“Formulated with active ingredients: Octinoxate and Zinc Oxide which provide a safe alternative to harsh chemical sunscreens, the addition of aloe and antioxidants like Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid lock in moisture and help protect the skin from sun damage, premature aging (fine lines and wrinkles) and skin cancer. This lightweight formula absorbs quickly for a smooth finish that isn’t greasy or streaky.”

My Experience: So as you may know, I’m currently in Costa Rica, where the sun is blazing. I’ve been using this sunscreen on my face and a generic brand on my body. Guess which one actually protected me from this fierce sun? Yup, Pamela Metamorphosis. I reapply it after I’m in the ocean, but a little bit goes a long way.

I sort of have this strange neck-to-chest tan now because my body sunscreen hasn’t been the best, but I suppose if there’s any part of me I want protected, it’s definitely my face! I’ll be using this for the rest of my body now! Also, I usually break out on my face after using sunscreen, but I haven’t broken out at all using this one. That’s a HUGE plus for me.

Scent: Every time I use this, I’m pleasantly surprised by the smell. It smells a little like sunscreen but for the most part, it’s barely noticeable.

Website Description: “This purifying, gel-like cleanser gets to the root of the cause of blackheads and breakouts, loosening debris and blemishes while preventing them from forming in the future. The Energizing Papaya Cleanser is formulated with salicylic acid to penetrate deep into pores and exfoliate, while papaya enzymes break down dead skin cells and impurities that can sit on the surface of your skin.”

My Experience: Okay, I had an interesting experience with this cleanser. The cleanser is very light and I’m used to cleansers being thick. I also didn’t understand why it didn’t leave my face feeling very dry. Yes, I know; I had become so accustomed to over-drying cleansers that when I actually had one that worked without drying out my face, I didn’t know if it was working correctly! Turns out, it was. Even with a full eye of liner, mascara, and shadow, this cleaner removed all of my makeup without drying my skin out.

Scent: The papaya comes through in this cleanser, but it’s a gentle scent. Nothing too fruity that makes you feel like you have a fruit salad on your face.

Website Description: “Our FRESH Facial Cleansing Towels are a convenient and simple cleansing solution for when a shower or proper face washing just isn’t in the cards that day. Not only are these luxury, on the go towels formulated with a stellar team of ingredients, they’re also created at a larger size and heavier weight than most other facial cleansing towels on the market. You never have to worry about them breaking apart, pilling or providing enough coverage to clean the entire face, neck and chest.”

My Experience: After a sixty-minute hot yoga class, you do not want to wipe your face with anything other than one of these towels. The same goes for after a day of playing tennis, in between a workout and brunch, or even removing leftover sunscreen at the beach so you can reapply. I enjoy knowing exactly what ingredients are in these towels. If I want to, I can buy them in bulk (still individually wrapped)! It’s so helpful to not have to carry around a giant wad of facial cleansing towels.

Scent: REFRESHING. Seriously what do you expect from towels that have water, green tea extract, aloe vera gel, and cucumber fruit extract?
