What is love? Love is a leap of faith.
A friend of mine and her guy got engaged today and it was one of the happiest days.
Behind the scenes, however, there was a lot of persistent
patience and prayer on her end leading up to this day.
So what’s the deal with engagement?
Like some people say,
“Why try to change something that’s working just fine as it is?”
Honestly, engagement is when the man gets the chance to step
up to the plate and set the tone for what marriage will look like.
Does he have humility in asking her father for permission?
AND
Does he take initiative to save for a ring?
AND
Does he know her heart well enough to give her a memory she will always keep close in her heart?
There is so much more that goes into an engagement than just a ring on her finger.
I’m so honored we were able to celebrate their engagement.
It refreshed me to see two intelligent, stable, kind, wonderful people
take a huge leap of faith–one that will lead them into marriage.
MY OH MY what a celebration that will be!!!
Cheers,

Hey — I wrote a book about all of this.
Living Open-Handed is the devotional I wrote during a season when I really needed to hear these words myself. If you're in a place where you need to be encouraged by scripture and softened by grace, it might be for you too.

[No. 74] Stop Saying That You Are Colorblind Or That You Don't See Color
I’ve heard two phrases a lot lately. The first one is, “I don’t see color” and the second one is, “I am colorblind.” I want, in love, to make sure people know neither is appropriate. I get the heart behind it. Believe me, I do. You’re trying to say that color doesn’t define a person […]

[No. 73] Love Is Translating Empathy Into Action
What is love? Love is GIRL DAY. Lol. Let me explain. Most of my BFFs don’t live in the same city as me, let alone the same state. Usually, that doesn’t bother an introvert like me. Scheduled facetime calls throughout a week usually are perfect for me. But sometimes, the lack of my deeply trusted […]
