Say No to Racism – 1 John 3:17-18

I was dreading visiting the States this week.
Especially given all the crap in the news and nearby lately.
Recently two of my family members were verbally
attacked in the U.S. and my parent’s neighbor was as well at the local Target.
All three of these women were told to go back to their country. Nobody stepped up around them and said no to racism.

Last night when my Indian family, and my husband’s American family had
a table at dinner, our waiter came over to us, raised his eyebrows, and
made the comment, “Oh wow you have quite the group at this table.”
My sweet father-in-law smiled, looked the waiter straight in the eyes,
and said, “Oh no, we are all family.” *mic drop*

I was fist-pumping underneath that table.
That’s what I live for.
That’s what makes America great.
Actual diversity and removing any space for odd comments like that.
I heard someone say once that silence is violence, and I agree.
You can say you are against the immigration ban or that you are
pro-refugee
but what are you doing about it?
Do you stand up for your friends or just wish they weren’t going through a hard time? Have you said no to racism?

yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
